Long Valley, N.J., June 24, 2014 – The Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office today granted Dr. James W. Suzansky and PerTech Corporation U.S. Patent No. 8.758,019 for:

MULTIMEDIA GAME BASED SYSTEM AND

PROCESS FOR MEDICAL, SAFETY AND

HEALTH IMPROVEMENTS

This system and process currently named eHealthGames® combines multimedia technology, the psychological principles of learning, and the excitement and engagement of gaming to create a fun-based method to educate and motivate participants for medical, safety, and health improvements by themselves and others.

Based on the 60 claims and 25 drawings and charts included in the filing on August 3, 2006,

Multimedia technology will be used in the eHealthGames® system and process to convey educational materials, enable personal information tracking, and provide motivational activities (such as games and puzzles) relevant to medical, safety, and health improvement.

Multimedia technology for eHealthGames® can include cell phones, electronic books (ebooks), tablets, personal digital assistants (PDAs), computers, and kiosks; and the technology can be accessed via wireless or wired connections.

The technologies and their game and puzzle capabilities will enable eHealthGames® to "make health fun" and enhance the attention, learning, and motivation of participants.

The principles of the psychology of learning will be employed in a programmed instruction framework to provide participants health and medical information in an easy-to-acquire and understand process.

The eHealthGames® system and process will be a basis for tracking the health, safety, and medical behaviors of others (e.g., children, elderly parents) to assure their essential activities and dosages have been completed.

The eHealthGames® system and process will link participants to live support via the Internet and wired and wireless phones, ebooks, tablets, PDAs, and other devices

Participant education from eHealthGames® will include information about:

  • Specific illnesses (e.g., diabetes, coronary artery disease, obesity) causes, symptoms, treatments, and resources
  • Measuring health conditions (e.g., glucose and cholesterol levels)
  • Tracking behaviors and results (e.g., diet, exercise and weight loss)
  • Medications and their dosing and contra-indications

Participant support by eHealthGames® can include:

  • A tracking process for measuring, dosing, and results
  • Refill tracking and reminders
  • Insurance claims assistance
  • Alarms about potentially dangerous conditions (e.g., conflicting medications, failure to properly measure or dose)
  • A two-way contact process to secure information or assistance

Games and puzzles will be created to target and work most effectively with many specific demographic groups; such as children, pre-teens, seniors, sports enthusiasts, special needs groups, or highly mobile individuals.

Information collected through use of the eHealthGames® system and process will be summarized and available as a service to assist health and medical providers, such as pharmaceutical companies, specific disease foundations, and public and private support agencies.
